Approximately
77 staff work at NDS. The domestic compound is situated beside Nissan
Motor Manufacturing (UK) in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, where cars headed
for the domestic UK market are stored and distributed. The export compound
is based 7 km away at the Port of Tyne, where export market vehicles are
transferred to await shipping abroad, and imported vehicles are stored
prior to distribution. NMUK built vehicles are distributed to 45 markets
worldwide.
NDS responsibilities include:
Exporting of vehicles built
at Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK)
Delivery of Nissan products throughout
the UK for Nissan Motors (GB), both products built at NMUK and also imported
from Nissan worldwide
Manage transhipments of vehicles built in Japan and Spain
Port installation for Nissan Motors (GB)
Operate customs warehouse
Port management
Haulier management
Non Nissan vehicle handling and storage
Port of Tyne houses a rail facility where cars are sent overland to Italy
From Port of Tyne, vehicles are shipped to Amsterdam, Le Havre in France,
Barcelona in Spain, Italy and Scandinavia
